Bipolar Lifestyles is a non-profit volunteer webzine which was founded November 15, 2010 by Jennifer Steele to provide information and support to people affected by mental illness, particularly bipolar disorder.
Jennifer Steele was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder type 1 in December 2005 after her third suicide attempt. Her co-occuring disorders are Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder, Adult ADHD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. She is working on stabilizing her bipolar symptoms and recovery from self-injury. She has made it her life’s ambition to help others affected by or afflicted with mental illness.
She grew up in an abusive household with a drug-addicted bipolar mother and an abusive alcoholic/drug addict step-father. She has personal experience with abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, and verbal), rape, Bipolar Disorder (many of her friends, family members – parents, maternal grandfather, brother, uncles, and cousins – have it), domestic violence, suicidal thoughts/attempts, and self-injury among other things.
